Dear JD: Didn’t I see Julian Sayin in a teen movie?

Julian Sayin looks like a bad guy in a teen movie or show.

The Miami Hurricanes and Ohio State Buckeyes will face off in the Cotton Bowl on New Years Eve. The two teams haven’t faced off since a Miami win in 2011.

The Buckeyes quarterback, Julian Sayin, has a particular look to him. If he seems familiar it’s because he looks like a heel in multiple teen movies and shows. He’s close but not close enough to Jake Wyler in Not Another Teen Movie.

He definitely looks more like the bad guy from D3: The Mighty Ducks (below). But still not quite close enough Mr. Sayin.

His true doppelgänger is Eddie (below) in 1998’s I’ll Be Home for Christmas starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas. There’s a confidence and a smugness to him but you’re also thinking, ‘Well hell, he’s not wrong, either.‘

1- Sayin and Eddie both embark on a road trip from Southern California. Much like Eddie, Sayin’s trip took a couple of detours. Sayin had a short stay at Alabama before transferring up north to Ohio State. Sayin has probably made a few stops at Bavarian villages on the way through Iowa and Michigan- shoutout to Frankenmuth.

2- Neither are easily impressed. Eddie doesn’t buy JTT’s character Jake’s poetry attempt on Jessica Beal while Sayin wasn’t impressed with the Miami coach’s pitch of, “We might not win but you’ll have fun.” While attending a 7-on-7 tournament at The U.

3- They both have a strong supporting cast around them. Eddie has the Brandt-Man, Murph-Man, and Ken-Man while Sayin has Bo Jackson, Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate. And that’s just the offense. The OSU defense has Caleb Downs and Caden Curry, too.

4- Finally, they’re both going to wind up locked down. Eddie in the back of a squad car during the Santa Claus Race, and Sayin by the Miami defense in the Cotton Bowl on New Years Eve.

All jokes aside, Sayin is a hell of a quarterback who has completed nearly 79% of his passes with elite ball placement. The QB has thrown 31 TD’s with only six picks on 9.3 yards per attempt. Expect a solid performance from him in the Cotton Bowl.
