Real Madrid were able to end the year on a positive note as they secured a 2-0 win over Sevilla at Santiago Bernabeu.

However, the victory was completely overshadowed by the cold reception that was given to Real Madrid’s very own Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius Jr. has been no stronger at getting booed by his own sets of fans. But this was no ordinary reaction, as the Chamartin, usually protective of their players, sustained the booing throughout, and it was impossible to ignore.

The event was such that Vinicius Jr., after the game, changed his profile picture on Instagram to a picture of him wearing the shirt of the Brazilian national team and not of Real Madrid.

This was enough to spark speculation over Vinicius Jr’s future at the club. But in the meantime, the player has received support from his teammates.

Real Madrid squad fully backs Vinicius

As reported by Diario AS, the Real Madrid squad still fully backs Vinicius Jr. at a time when the player has faced constant criticism from fans and media outlets alike.

However, it must be noted that the support from the club and the squad do not necessarily mean that Vinicius Jr. has to offer something if he is to earn the same level of respect as Kylian Mbappe.

The management has indicated in the past that there’s no room for complacency with regards to Vinicius, who has looked only a shadow of his former self since his snub at the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards.

However, the ongoing backlash from fans may create fresh complications for Real Madrid, as it may bring down the motivation of the Brazilian international, who has yet to pen a new deal at the Bernabeu.
