Maximus Silva certainly was ready for the arena Friday night.

The Flat Rock junior scored 10 of his career-high 16 points in the second quarter as the Rams pulled away for a 64-34 win over St. Mary Catholic Central, earning their first victory of the season.

Flat Rock coach Rick Smith chuckled when told the name Maximus sounded like a gladiator.

“He played like one a little bit tonight,” he said. “He rebounded pretty well and hit some open 3s. Max loves basketball and has a desire to be really good. He’s one of our hardest workers. A great kid.”
