It could be a guard battle in Milwaukee on Friday.
The Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the Villanova Wildcats on Friday evening, with tip-off set for 7:00 P.M. at the Fiserv Forum on FOX.
Wisconsin has started the season 7-3 with wins over Providence, Northwestern, and Marquette, but they’ve also seen huge losses to BYU and Nebraska, the latter being a 30-point defeat last weekend.
The Badgers offense has averaged over 85 points a contest, but their efficiency hasn’t been great, as they’ve shot 44.2 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from three so far this season. But their defense hasn’t been great either, as they’ve allowed 90 points in multiple losses.
Villanova, on the other hand, hasn’t faced the most taxing schedule. They do have an 89-71 win over Pitt, but also have losses to BYU (71-66) and Michigan (89-61). As a result, they’ve started the year 8-2. Wisconsin will see a familiar face, as former Maryland Terrapins head coach Kevin Willard is now the leader at Villanova.
The Wildcats are led by guards Bryce Lindsay and Acaden Lewis. Lindsay has been an elite three-point shooter so far this season (45.2 percent), while averaging over 17 points a contest. Lewis has averaged 12.4 points a game while leading Villanova in assists and steals.
Grand Canyon transfer forward Duke Brennan has been one of the best rebounders in the country, ranking second with 11.7 a game. That matchup with Nolan Winter could be a big factor on Friday.
Heading into Friday, the Badgers are seen as 5.5-point favorites with the over/under at 150.5 points.
