When it comes to having someone in your corner, Caitlin Clark doesn’t have to look far. Her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has been right there through the highs and lows of her journey – from electric college nights in Iowa to her rising WNBA stardom.

This past weekend, even though Clark had to sit out the All-Star festivities due to injury, McCaffery was right by her side, soaking in the spotlight with her. But it wasn’t just quiet support this time, Connor also found a lighthearted way to lift her spirits, surprising fans with a new nickname for the Fever star that quickly caught on.

McCaffery shared one of Clark’s posts on his Instagram Stories with a caption that said, “Coach CC!!”

The WNBA All-Star Game had all the star power fans could ask for except Caitlin Clark, who was sidelined with a groin injury. Instead of suiting up, the Indiana Fever rookie traded her jersey for a coaching role on the sidelines.

Team Clark coach Sandy Brondello joked ahead of the game that she’d be more than happy to hand over the clipboard. Clark, disappointed to miss out, said she was still excited to support her team and enjoy the action.

Meanwhile, Team Collier, led by Napheesa Collier and featuring Angel Reese, looked sharp. Reese has been dominating the boards this season and said she came back stronger for year two.

The weekend also marked first-time All-Star nods for rookies like Paige Bueckers, who called the experience a childhood dream come true. Despite a few last-minute withdrawals, the game was still packed with talent and memorable moments.
