The star center wasn’t in uniform for the late-week practice.
Steelers center Zach Frazier was not in uniform during Wednesday’s practice, instead working off to the side in what may ultimately prove to be inconsequential, but nonetheless noteworthy, given the team’s current injury situation along the offensive line.
Head coach Mike Tomlin did not mention any injury involving Frazier during his pregame or postgame media availability, suggesting that if an issue did arise, it is likely minor or will not be addressed publicly until the official injury report is released later. Frazier previously dealt with a calf injury in October, though he did not miss any game action at that time.
The development bears monitoring, as the Steelers’ offensive line is already dealing with multiple injuries. Starting tackle Broderick Jones is out for the season, while veteran guard Isaac Seumalo suffered a triceps injury in Monday night’s loss to the Dolphins and also did not dress for practice. Additionally, Andrus Peat missed the Miami game while in concussion protocol, and his availability for Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions remains uncertain.
If Frazier were unable to play, it would represent a significant setback for an offense already stretched thin up front. His absence would further test Pittsburgh’s depth and continuity along the line at a critical point in the season. For now, the Steelers’ injury report should provide greater clarity on Frazier’s status as the week progresses.
