Browns head coach options if Kevin Stefanski is fired

If, as rumored, the Kevin Stefanski era is over for the Cleveland Browns, Jim Schwartz, Joe Brady among top options

There is much speculation that Kevin Stefanski’s time with the Cleveland Browns could be coming to an end. Should the team choose to move on from him, there are a few key candidates that it would make sense for the team to look at first.

The first candidate is internal: Jim Schwartz, the Browns’ defensive coordinator. Schwartz brings extensive coaching experience across multiple programs and previously served as the head coach of the Detroit Lions. He already has familiarity with the roster and the culture in Cleveland, so it would be a fairly seamless transition to move him over into the head coaching role.

Should the team want to look outside the Browns organization, Vance Joseph, Denver Broncos Defensive Coordinator, would be a great option. Joseph has past head coaching experience, which would certainly make Cleveland more comfortable with giving him a shot. Denver’s defense has been fantastic the last few seasons, and much of it can be credited to Joseph.

If the Browns want a more offense-minded head coach, Joe Brady, Buffalo Bills Offensive Coordinator, could be a potential candidate. Brady is expected to be a sought-after head coaching candidate, with multiple teams hoping to bring him into their organization. He would bring a fresh look to a Cleveland offense that has gotten quite stale in recent seasons.

Here are a few other potential candidates.
