Vote for the 2024-25 Stark County Boys Coach of the Year. Nominees are from Lake Center, Louisville and Perry.

With the Stark County OHSAA sports season over for the 2024-25, we've spent the last few weeks looking back at the best of the school year.

Your vote has been determining Stark County Best of the School Year for teams, coaches and athletes.

We wrap that up with who you think was the best boys high school coach of 2024-25. Each coach’s credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 5 p.m. Thursday. The winner will be announced Friday morning on CantonRep.com.

Now, let's meet the candidates, who were selected by the Repository sports staff.

Here's a look at the nominees for Stark County Boys Coach of the Year, in alphabetical order:

Shane Byler, Lake Center Christian baseball

Led the Tigers to their first regional championship to become the first Lake Center team to ever reach a state tournament, where they finished as the Division VI state runner-up.

Brent McBurney, Perry wrestling

Coached the Panthers to a Division I state runner-up finish after becoming the first Ohio public school to qualify its entire lineup for an OHSAA state touranment, as three wrestlers won individual state titles — Mason Rohr, Joseph Sanderfer and Landen Johnson).

Tom Siegfried, Louisville basketball

Guided the Leopards to their first state championship in program history when they won the Division III state title to cap a remarkable 24-win season where they went 3-0 against reigning state champs in the regular season.

Matt Voll, Perry basketball

Steered the Panthers through a sub-.500 regular season to their first trip to a state final, finishing as the Division II state runner-up to cap a memorable run featuring a regional win at the buzzer and a state semifinal win at packed Field House.
