"We try to make it a good experience, especially for the younger kids," said organizer Anthony Troshak.
CHARLEVOIX — More than 40 teams participated in the annual 3-on-3 roundball tournament on Sunday, July 20 as part of Charlevoix's Venetian Festival festivities.
Charlevoix High School's varsity basketball coach Anthony Troshak helped run the event. He said around 45 teams participated in this year's tournament.
Each team was made up of four players — three on the court with one alternate. Teams were split by age group, including students from grades 4-12.
Each team had a $100 registration fee. Division winners took home medals and each participant got a t-shirt.
"We try to make it a good experience, especially for the younger kids," Troshak said.
The event started Sunday morning and went into the afternoon, with games set up throughout the different gymnasiums at Charlevoix Middle/High School.
"We have a tremendous amount of great helpers which makes it run pretty smoothly for the most part, and we couldn't do it without them," Troshak said.
Many families, friends and community members also made their way to the school on Sunday to watch the friendly competition.
"We live in a great community that supports us and we appreciate all the helpers and all the people that come out and make it a great day," Troshak said.
