Marc Cucurella, fresh off winning the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea, has weighed in on Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Barcelona, sharing his thoughts on how the England international might adapt to Spanish football.

Rashford joined Barça on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, a transfer that has sparked plenty of debate and excitement across Europe.

Speaking in an interview with Jijantes, Cucurella expressed his belief that Rashford has what it takes to succeed at Barcelona, but he also pointed out that the winger will soon realise the differences between the Premier League and La Liga.

“He’s very fast and I think he’ll notice the difference in pace between the leagues,” Cucurella explained.

“The Premier League is quicker, more physical, but in La Liga you have to adapt to a different style of play.

“I believe Marcus can do quite a lot of work in Spain because of his speed and quality, but he will have to adjust.”

Praise for Hansi Flick and Barcelona

In addition to his views on Rashford, Cucurella also spoke about Barcelona’s recent progress under Hansi Flick. The Chelsea defender admitted he was impressed by Barça’s performances last season.

“I was very surprised; I didn’t expect it,” he said, acknowledging the improvements the Catalan giants have made since Flick took over.

Rashford’s move to Barça is seen as one of the safest transfers of the summer. After a mixed season at Manchester United and Aston Villa, the England international now faces the challenge of proving himself in a new league and under a new system.

As such, a lot of former players, including Rio Ferdinand and Gary Lineker, have voiced their opinion about the transfer and considering their takes, it is safe to say that he is likely to leave a strong impression.
