Freiburg have agreed a contract extension with coach Julian Schuster, the Bundesliga club said on Monday. Schuster took over as coach last summer after club icon Christian Streich departed following 12 years in the role and led the team to the Europa League.

Freiburg didn't disclose how long the new contract will be valid for.
"Julian and his team did some incredibly impressive work last season," chief sporting officer Jochen Saier said. "The team's development is clearly moving in the right direction and there's a real sense of togetherness. It just feels right."
Schuster added: "We have just had a great year and managed to develop a number of good things, not just our final position in the table. I’m delighted to be able to continue working on the team's development together with my coaching team and the backroom staff."
