The Milwaukee Bucks saw the emergence of AJ Green into a reliable role in the roster. For the first time in his career, the undrafted shooting guard averaged more than five points. Green appeared in 73 games for the 2024-25 NBA season, averaging 7.4 points on 42.7% shooting from deep.

Green was one of the biggest surprises for the Bucks last season. Head coach Doc Rivers opted for him to play more minutes than the veteran Pat Connaughton. The fan favorite youngster averaged 22.7 minutes, while the 10-year veteran averaged 14.7 minutes.

Fortunately for Green, it was the perfect time for him to show his improvement. In the upcoming 2025-26 season, he'll play the final year of his three-year, $6.3 million deal. He's now eligible to sign a contract extension with the Bucks.

Not only are the fans excited for Green, but the Bucks' front office is as well. In a recent interview with Eric Nehm of The Athletic, the team's general manager, Jon Horst, talked about the contract extension of the 25-year-old.

According to Horst, he has already reached out to Green and his agent, Matt Bollero, as soon as he became extension-eligible. Both parties want to settle the contract agreement as soon as possible, the executive added.

"AJ wants to be here, AJ wants to figure something out. Obviously, we’ve got to figure a deal out and we have the whole season to do it. I hope it doesn’t take that long," Horst said.

Green left a strong impression on fans and his teammates with the way he shot the ball from long range. In the playoffs, he had a better performance, averaging 11 points on 51.4% from the three-point area against the Indiana Pacers.

The 6-foot-4 guard is expected to have a great year next season after his strong third campaign in the league.
