Texas A&M football's offense experienced a lot of progress in the offseason, especially in quarterback Marcel Reed. With 2025-26 on the horizon, head coach Mike Elko's team just made into the Top 25 FBS teams at No. 23, per ESPN.
ESPN's Dave Wilson made a list of the X factors for each college football team in the Top 25. Individual players are a common theme throughout the list, like LSU quarterback Garret Nussmeier or Ohio State tight end Max Klare.
For the Aggies, though, one key part of their offense is what Wilson thinks will determine their strength in the upcoming season.
"The Aggies' offense will go as far as their running backs take it," Wilson wrote.
Texas A&M's running back room is finally healthy after experiencing injury after injury starting with Rueben Owens before Week 1 even came around. Owens was only available for two games at the end of the season and Le'Veon Moss ran the backfield for a majority of the season before getting taken out by a season-ending knee injury.
Elko said at Coach's Night that both running backs are ready for the regular season. Owens posted a hype video on social media ahead of fall camp as well, confirming that he is 100 percent healthy.
"With Moss and Owens back, along with Amari Daniels, who added 700 yards and eight [touchdowns] last year, suddenly A&M has an embarrassment of riches at the position," Wilson wrote. "With the Aggies returning a strong offensive line, offensive coordinator Collin Klein will be able to take some pressure off [Reed's] development along with a new group of wide receivers."
If Moss, Owens, and Daniels can remain healthy during the season, Texas A&M is in a good spot within the SEC as well as potentially looking ahead to the College Football Playoffs.
