Centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is in his third MLB season with the Chicago Cubs after being selected in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft by the New York Mets.
Chicago acquired Crow-Armstrong a year later in a 2021 trade-deadline deal that sent Javier Baez to New York.
The 23-year-old outfielder debuted at the end of the 2023 season but struggled to put it all together during his first full campaign in 2024. He posted a .237 batting average, a .670 OPS and managed just 88 hits over 123 games for Chicago.
In 2025, he has fully elevated his game to superstar level, making his first career All-Star appearance on Tuesday at Truist Park.
Recognizing his stellar first half, MLB fans voted him the 2025 midseason NL MVP via Fox Sports.
The Cubs responded on X with a four-word message: “we know that’s right.”
we know that's right. 😊

Los Angeles Dodgers’ Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani is currently the clear National League favorite to win back-to-back MVP awards, which makes Crow-Armstrong’s fan-chosen honor a bit of a shock. MLB fans, however, have made it clear the young centerfielder belongs firmly in the MVP conversation.
Through 95 games this season, Crow-Armstrong has posted a .265 batting average, an .847 OPS, and accumulated 25 home runs and 27 stolen bases, displaying his blend of power and speed.
His emergence at the top of the Cubs’ lineup has led Chicago to the top of the NL Central at 57–39 heading into a series against the Boston Red Sox on Friday.
