Jupiter's Grace Carter closes run at U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur with narrow loss on Peacock

Carter, 15, saw her run at the U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur end in the match play semifinals on July 18 in Georgia.

Jupiter's Grace Carter saw her run at the 2025 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship end in a narrow semifinal loss on July 18.

Carter, 15, lost to Singapore's Xingtong Chen by a single hole in the match play semifinals at Atlantic Athletic Club's Riverside Course. The match was streamed live on Peacock and will be replayed on July 18 at 9 p.m. on the Golf Channel.

Chen advances to face Canada's Aphrodite Deng in the match play final on July 19. The match will be streamed live on Peacock at 3 p.m.

Carter, the tournament's No. 1 match play seed after earning low medalist during stroke play, never trailed in her first three rounds of match play. She defeated Australia's Shyla Singh 7 and 5 in the quarterfinal on Friday morning.

She found herself in a two-hole deficit after nine holes play against Chen, however. Carter rallied with wins on holes No. 13 and 16 only to hand the lead back to Chen with a short missed par putt on No. 17.

Chen found the green on the par-5 No. 18 in two strokes and lagged her ensuing putt close to the hole. Carter, who had a short birdie putt, conceded the putt and match to Chen.

Carter is a rising high school freshman who played varsity golf last year with Brevard HEAT. She is the reigning and multi-time women's club champion at Jonathan's Landing Golf Club in Jupiter.

Boca Raton's Chloe Kovelesky, a rising sophomore at Wake Forest University, was eliminated on Friday morning after losing to Canada's Aphrodite Deng by two strokes in the quarterfinals.
