Warriors called Celtics attempting to trade for $118 million fan favorite

The Warriors have been looking to improve their roster.

There were a few rumors early on in the offseason that the Boston Celtics could look to move on from Derrick White.

Ultimately, at least as of yet, the Celtics haven't decided to move on from the fan favorite and arguably the best role player in the NBA.

This is a smart decision from the Celtics’ perspective, too. While they won't be the same type of team they were expected to be a year ago, they should be fine once Jayson Tatum returns, whether it be next year or the season after.

However, while the Celtics didn't move on from White, it was reported by Jake Fischer that some teams had an interest, including the Golden State Warriors.

"Golden State definitely called for Derek White, but there's just nothing that I know for Jaylen (Brown) or Derrick that got really close," Fischer said on Celtics CLNS. "I think all along, there was never really a plan to move Jaylen or Derrick. So, I don't think anything got close. (Golden State) would have had to really make a Desmond Bane, Mikail Bridges type of offer for Derrick White."

There have been reports indicating for much of the offseason that the Warriors have been looking to improve their roster.

As it stands, there isn't much to discuss with their rosters outside of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler.

Of course, those are three great players, with an all-time legend mixed in, but the Warriors likely aren't good enough to win a championship as currently constructed.
