It's been almost a year since Tiger Woods last played competitive golf at 2024 British Open

It wasn't quite one year ago, but it was the second round of the British Open in 2024 when we last saw Tiger Woods play a competitive round of golf.

On July 19, 2024, one day after posting 8-over 79, Woods shot 6-over 77 at Royal Troon to cap off his short week in the Open Championship.

It marked his third straight missed cut in a major during the 2024 campaign. He went a combined 44 over in the four majors.

Tiger Woods acknowledges the crowd on the 18th green during the second round of the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon.

“I've always loved playing major championships. I just wish I was more physically sharp coming into the majors,” Woods said after that second round a year ago. “Obviously it tests you mentally, physically, emotionally, and I just wasn't as sharp as I needed to be. I was hoping that I would find it somehow. I just never did, and consequently my results and scores were pretty high.”

Woods signed just 11 scorecards in 2024. In addition to 10 rounds in the four majors, he played the first round before WD-ing from his Genesis Invitational.

After the Open in 2024, Woods targeted the Hero World Challenge but was unable to play in the Bahamas. Golf fans did get to see Tiger team up with son Charlie at the PNC Championship, where they came up short in a playoff to Bernard Langer and his son Jason. After the turn of the new year, Tiger made several appearances in the TGL virtual golf league, a made-for-TV indoor competition.
