Lakers linked to 25 PPG future Hall of Famer to make LeBron James, Luka Doncic happy

This would be a huge move.

The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten some pressure put on them by LeBron James.

The good news for L.A. is that an easy solution to make LeBron happy just fell into their laps.

The Milwaukee Bucks waived Damian Lillard on Tuesday. Yes, Lillard just tore his Achilles in the postseason, so he wouldn't be available right away. But he's a future Hall of Famer who still should have some production left as long as the healing process goes right.

The Athletic reports that the Lakers have inquired about Lillard in the time since he was waived.

A Lillard signing by the Lakers would also likely signal a hint about LeBron's future. If he plans to retire after this season, a Lillard signing makes less sense, although conceptually Dame could be ready to play by the playoffs.

It'd be more logical if Lillard, James and Doncic were looking at a full season together in 2026-27 before LeBron rode off into the sunset.

The lineup fits would be interesting with Austin Reaves still around, too, but the reality is that if you can get a guy like Lillard for more or less a pickup off the scrap heap, you've got to try.

The Lakers are expected to face competition out West from the Warriors, Lillard's hometown team. His chosen destination could have big implications.
