Atlanta might be getting better.
The Atlanta Braves are probably too far out of the postseason race to make a serious run.
They did make a trade Thursday night to improve their team, though.
Dane Dunning has been acquired, the Braves announced, in a trade with the Rangers. Going the other way are Jose Ruiz and cash.
Dunning is a right-handed pitcher who was a first-round pick back in 2016 by the Nationals and was also on the Rangers' roster when they won the 2023 World Series.
This season, Dunning has appeared in five games out of the bullpen since getting healthy and has a 3.38 ERA.

In his career, Dunning has a 4.34 ERA. He has made 102 of his 129 appearances at the MLB level as a starting pitcher.
Atlanta likely views Dunning as a swingman who can fill whatever role is needed in the second half of the season.
Dunning pitched his first MLB season with the White Sox but had been with the Rangers for the five seasons since.
Now he's got a new uniform in Atlanta.
