On his latest episode of Podcast P, Paul George and Baron Davis discuss Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball
Paul George is back to podcasting, and his latest episode with Baron Davis featured a segment surrounding a rising star in the NBA.
On the newest edition of Podcast P, the 76ers forward featured former Charlotte Hornets All-Star Baron Davis. The pair offered their sentiment on current Hornets’ star guard LaMelo Ball.
“I think LaMelo needs to have a goal going into the season,” Davis said. “I will be the top point guard coming out at the end of the season, play 82 games or what not, and I'm going to get my team to the playoffs. So I think that's where Melo got to take his talent and take his goals outside of just, ‘Oh, I'm one of the top dogs in the league, and I'm trying to make the All-Star game because I'm a brand.”
Ball has been a star in his own individual right for nearly a decade, dating back to his high school days at Chino Hills. However, his legacy in the NBA has been marred by a lack of team success in Charlotte. The team has yet to make the playoffs with Ball, and has only achieved one winning season in 2021-22. Davis says the Hornets must address this issue in order to allow Ball to succeed.
“ On the team side, there’s got to be some accountability or some direction. So, when you looking at the roster and you look at the Hornets’ roster, you got to pick a direction. You got to choose a direction. When they get a superstar talent, the hardest thing to do is know how to build around a LaMelo Ball,” Davis said.
