The Reds need some help in their outfield.
The Cincinnati Reds have been a sleeper team for much of the 2025 season. They are in fourth place in the National League Central, yet only 2 1/2 back in the Wild Card race at 50-47.
They'll start the second half with a pivotal series against the New York Mets on Friday. They likely will be buyers at this year's trade deadline.
Cincinnati is in need of outfield help, as well as a power bat. There will be several options available to them this year.
Mike Axisa of CBS Sports predicts that Cincinnati will trade for outfielder Luis Robert Jr. at the deadline.
"This one almost feels like fait accompli, so I'm not sure it qualifies as a bold prediction. The Reds tried to get Robert in the offseason and I assume they'll try again at the deadline given a) their need for an outfielder, and b) the price coming down given Robert's poor season," Axisa wrote.

Robert has struggled in 2025. He is slashing .190/.275/.325 with nine home runs, 35 RBI and a .599 OPS, though he has stolen 22 bases.
With the White Sox out of contention, it makes sense to trade Robert, who is on an expiring contract. The Reds likely won't have to overpay to land Robert from the White Sox.
Perhaps a change of scenery and the opportunity to play for a contender will help Robert rediscover his stroke at the plate. This would also fill a big need for the Reds as they look to make a postseason push.
The team hasn't reached the playoffs in a full year since 2013, but a buy-low bat could significantly boost their chances of making a run.
We'll see if the Reds show interest.
