NBA Insider reveals shocking Jrue Holiday trade details

The Toronto Raptors reportedly sent an aggressive offer for Jrue Holiday

The Boston Celtics began to re-tool their once championship roster this offseason by trading away point guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers.

However, per NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Celtics turned down a very aggressive offer from the Toronto Raptors.

Appearing on CLNS’ “The Garden Report” Fischer stated that the Raptors dangled the idea of giving the Celtics the No. 9 overall pick in this year’s draft in exchange for Derrick White or Jrue Holiday. However, the Celtics were turned off by the idea of having to take on the contract of RJ Barrett, and elected to agree to the Trail Blazers’ offer for Anfernee Simons, who’s contract expires after next season.

The Raptors would keep their pick, and draft Collin-Murray Boyles.

“ I don’t think Boston ever really was so interested in that selection for one of those types of guys,” Fischer said.

Holiday spent two seasons in Boston and averaged 11.8 points and 4.4 assists per game. He was instrumental in the team’s run to the championship in 2024, but wasn’t nearly as effective this past season, leading to the Celtics decision to move on.

Fischer was not surprised to see the team move on from Holiday, but believes that players such as White, and Jaylen Brown were never actually as available as some may have thought despite aggressive offers such as the ones coming in from Toronto.

“I think the fact that they moved Jrue, and Porzingis was also expected,” he said. “ I think all along there was never really a plan to move Jaylen or Derrick. So I don’t think anything got close. I don’t think they were really willing to move those guys either.”
