Leonard Miller has been with the Minnesota Timberwolves for two seasons, but he has barely played for the team. He has played a total of 30 regular-season games, and most of them have come in sporadic minutes. He is a promising player, as evidenced by his performance for the Iowa Wolves.
Entering his third year, Miller wants more opportunities to shine. That is why he is performing to the best of his ability during the 2025 NBA Summer League, as it can help him gain a boost and catch the attention of head coach Chris Finch for the 2025-26 NBA season.
Since he will be entering his third NBA season, Miller needs to have a big year. He is likely doing his best to contribute to the primary Timberwolves team, but he must impress the coaches enough to give him regular minutes. Due to his performances at the NBA Summer League, there is potential for him to keep contributing, considering he is only 21.
At 6'10", Miller has the size to be either a small forward or a power forward. That could matter in the long run, as he could back up either Jaden McDaniels or Julius Randle. With his energy, defense, and offensive upside, Miller could be a good option for Finch if he gives the 21-year-old minutes.
Miller Is Focused On Improving At NBA Summer League
Due to the limited minutes he has played over the past two seasons, Miller has not showcased his talents. Thankfully, playing in the G-League and NBA Summer League are his opportunities to shine. He even became a G-League All-Star during the 2024-25 season, which proves he has legitimate talent.

He is glad to have all the opportunities because he is working hard to prove himself. Defensively, he has shown massive improvements, and that has translated into victories for the Timberwolves at Summer League.
"My defense, and so far this Summer League, I’ve showcased my versatility there," Miller said after a Summer League game. "Being able to guard different types of players, and I’m really happy with how far my defense has come."
Aside from his defense, he has shown some strides as an offensive player. That is a good sign for the long-term future, as Miller could convince the Timberwolves to make him a mainstay in the rotation.
Miller Is Due For An Opportunity For The Timberwolves
With his performances at NBA Summer League, Miller has proven he could be a contributor to the main team during the regular season. He is a favorite among his teammates, so he is due for a shot.

“His energy, he’s given us consistent energy. He just finds a way to he in the right place at the right time. Really good finisher. He’s been a stud, and defensively he’s been just solid every game, and… pic.twitter.com/LFRwmGqGXD
Terrence Shannon Jr. and Rob Dillingham have earned their way to getting noticed, and Miller is similarly hungry for an opportunity. If he can convince the coaching staff to call his name, he will be prepared to help Anthony Edwards and the rest of the team get more wins.
It is a make-or-break year for Miller, considering this is his third season with the Timberwolves. If he can impress everyone who decides for the Timberwolves, he could be a difference-maker that many people do not expect.
