Stephanie White put all the pressure on Caitlin Clark.
Caitlin Clark Has Major Decision to Make About WNBA All-Star Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Following the tweaking of her right groin in the Indiana Fever's Tuesday win over the Connecticut Sun, Caitlin Clark is in line to miss more time.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, who happens to be one of the biggest names in all of sports, has been battling injuries all season. She missed five games early in the season with a left quad injury, only to return and eventually be out for another five with a left groin injury.
At the end of the Fever's 85-77 win against the Sun, which saw her score 14 points, grab eight rebounds and dish seven assists, Clark appeared to hurt her right groin in the final minute of the game. Despite being ruled out for Wednesday's game against the New York Liberty, Fever coach Stephanie White told the media before the game that Clark's status for Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game is up in the air.
While most would assume that the Fever have the final say in whether or not Clark plays, White revealed that won't be the case, according to Chloe Peterson of the IndyStar.
"Whether CC will participate in All-Star activities this weekend will be up to 'Caitlin and her team,' White said," wrote Peterson.
Although the obvious solution would be to rest Clark since she will have missed 11 games up to that point, it's not that simple. Clark is the catalyst for the WNBA achieving a record number of viewers last season and has been a part of multiple historically watched games this season, with Tuesday's game attracting an average of 1.7 million viewers.
Her sitting out could lead to the ratings cratering, as they did earlier this season when she was out with her quad injury, with a 53% drop in viewership.
It's not an easy decision to make by any means, but clearly, the WNBA All-Star captain has some thinking to do.
