The Tigers have made their presence felt in the American League.

The Detroit Tigers entered the MLB All-Star break with the best record in the league, a feat that was wildly unexpected.

According to ESPN insider Jeff Passan, one fellow team from the AL with World Series aspirations is expected to try and make some big moves at the MLB trade deadline to try and keep up with Detroit's blistering pace.

In an interview with the Brock and Salk show, Passan discussed the Seattle Mariners trade deadline plans, and why they could be aggressive buyers. They currently sit in the final AL Wild Card spot with a 51-45 record.

"I think the Mariners are going to be aggressive," Passan said. "And I think they should be."

Passan was asked about a potential trade proposal that would land the Mariners Eugenio Suárez and Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks, and how that would affect their AL standing compared with the Tigers.

“Detroit, they’re 25 games over .500," Passan noted. "I know they got absolutely sonned by the Mariners [the Mariners swept the Tigers in the final series before the All-Star break], but I think you can see beyond that series what the Tigers have done over the first half this year, and you can’t ignore it.

"But does that trade (proposal for Suárez and Naylor) – or a trade for even one of them – put (the Mariners) up there with the Yankees? Yes. Red Sox? Yes. Rays? Yes. Blue Jays? Yes. Astros? Yeah, I think so.”

The Tigers are setting a standard that all of the aforementioned teams will have to follow.
