Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. lost money by attending MLB All-Star Game

"El Nino" ended up with more loss than gain by appearing at the All-Star Game festivities.

Sometimes, things in life just don't go as planned.

And that goes for your favorite athletes, too.

This past week, that especially rang true for star San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr.

As the star at first wasn't selected by the fans to start along with teammate Manny Machado, and didn't trust his chances in the player vote, Tatis Jr. decided to spoil himself by booking a well-earned vacation.

Lo and behold, the star Padre was selected to his third career All-Star Game as a reserve, putting a slight divot in his plans.

"I'm not going to lie, I already had a hotel booked somewhere where I can relax and chill during the break," Tatis Jr. said shortly after his selection. "But, I'm definitely happy. I already canceled my stay at the hotel and we're gonna be out there in Atlanta. I did not get a refund, but it's alright."

After all, it would have been kind of hard to not imagine Tatis in Atlanta for the honor, given that he's currently hitting .269 with 16 home runs and 42 runs batted in and seeing a return to the form we were used to seeing out of the Dominican star before he was kept out for the entire 2022 season for both injury and use of performance-enhancing drugs.
