Outfielder Sal Frelick is in his third season with the Milwaukee Brewers, having made his MLB debut in 2023.

Selected in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft, Frelick quickly became a fan favorite with his electrifying speed, defense and postseason heroics, batting .316 with six hits, one home run, two RBIs and two runs in five games during Milwaukee’s 2023–24 playoff runs.

The 25-year-old won his first Gold Glove Award last season and helped the Brewers capture their third division title in four seasons.

In 2025, Frelick has emerged as a threat offensively at the top of Milwaukee’s lineup.

Frelick sustained a left hamstring injury last Sunday during the third inning in a game against the Washington Nationals. He left after making a sliding catch in foul territory and was replaced by Isaac Collins, with an MRI scheduled to assess the injury.

On Wednesday, he was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, and his status for Friday’s opener at Dodger Stadium is TBD as the Brewers monitor his progress before deciding on if an IL stint is required.

Through 93 games this season, Frelick has unlocked more power, hitting a career-high seven home runs so far, and his .294 batting average and .758 OPS would easily be his career bests.

If the young outfielder misses time, it would severely hurt the Brewers, who enter a pivotal series against the Los Angeles Dodgers after the All-Star break. Milwaukee entered the break on a seven-game win streak, improving to 56–40, just a game behind the Chicago Cubs for first in the NL Central.
