Former Toronto Blue Jays all-star pitcher Aaron Sanchez is reportedly attempting to resurrect his career.

According to a post from USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the 33-year old right-hander has signed on with a new sports agency, Smooth Sports & Entertainment, in his comeback attempt.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Sanchez pitched for the Buffalo Bisons, Toronto's Triple-A affiliate, last season. In 14 starts, he recorded a 3-6 record, with a 7.92 ERA and 41 strikeouts. Sanchez last pitched in the major leagues in 2022 with the Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins.

A former first round pick (34th overall) by the Blue Jays in the 2010 MLB Draft, Sanchez made his big league debut with Toronto in 2014 at the age of 21. Pitching primarily out of the bullpen, he went 2-2 with a 1.09 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 33 innings during his rookie season.

In eight major league seasons with the Blue Jays, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants, Nationals and Twins, Sanchez compiled a 38-38 record, 4.16 ERA and 1.378 WHIP. He also added 541 strikeouts across 685 innings pitched.

Sanchez's last professional outing came nearly a year ago on August 3, 2024. It's currently unclear how close he is to being game ready.
