Mavericks' Kyrie Irving claps back at Kevin Durant over recent Brooklyn comments

The former superstar duo had an interesting stint together.

Kyrie Irving has been a Dallas Maverick for over two years, but he has still struggled to escape his past.

Over the past couple of years, the Mavericks have had many changes. However, one of the most consistent pieces of the franchise has been Irving’s star play.

Currently recovering from a torn ACL and looking to return for next season, Irving’s offseason has been different than most. One of Irving’s hobbies is streaming, which he has done even more recently during the offseason.

While Irving’s streams can be about a variety of topics, he’s never been shy to talk about his career. Soon, he'll clear the air about some recent comments from a former teammate.

On Wednesday, Irving said he would soon respond on stream as he quoted a tweet featuring a clip of LeBron James and Steve Nash’s Mind the Game podcast. In the clip, guest Kevin Durant talked about his struggles in Brooklyn, where he was both coached by Nash and played alongside Irving.

In the clip, Durant repeatedly talked about all of the extra stuff going on around him and Nash, who he says were on the same page. Of course, Irving can easily be lumped into the distractions, from his refusal to get vaccinated to getting suspended for sharing an antisemitic post, Irving’s Brooklyn stint was far from ideal.

Still, when the duo was on the floor together, they formed one of the best pairings in the NBA. While the team was seen as a title contender, the Nets were unable to get everything to work out in their favor.

As both parties have gone their separate ways, Irving and Durant will now be leading a couple of the West’s top teams next season. If Irving’s response on stream has any spice to it, there could even be some added juice to next season’s Mavericks-Rockets matchups.
