The Indiana Fever’s 85-77 win against the Connecticut Sun ended in disaster. This is after Caitlin Clark had to exit the contest in the final minute after appearing to reaggravate the same groin injury that cost her five games on the sidelines in June and July.

After the game, Fever head coach Stephanie White provided an update on her star player, noting that Clark is being evaluated and that the team does not have much information about the injury as of yet.

White, however, hinted at the possibility of Clark being forced to sit out Wednesday’s game against the defending champions, the New York Liberty, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

"I think we just take it one step at a time," White said, via Alexa Philipou of ESPN. "We'll get some food and get on the plane and start talking about New York. She's being evaluated, we'll see where we are with that, and certainly we'll have another evaluation, probably, and conversation in the morning, see where we are.

“But this group has played without her. At least we've got experience in that. We know that we have a tough opponent in New York. We know that it's going to be a challenge no matter what, and we've just got to get locked in and ready to compete."

White hasn’t confirmed anything about Clark potentially sitting out for another extended period, but what is clear is that she remains confident in the ability of her team to compete even without their best player on the floor.

During Clark’s most recent injury spell, the Fever went 3-2, which included their Commissioner’s Cup championship win against the league-best Minnesota Lynx.

There’s no denying that the Fever are a more dangerous side with Clark in the picture, but they have also proven that they are still a very potent threat without her.
