Maple Leafs linked to reunion with 307-goal free agent from Canadian rival

This would be a cool reconnection.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to reconnect with an old friend.

It doesn't hurt when that old friend has scored more than 300 goals in his NHL career, either.

That player: Nazem Kadri.

“One name to keep an on eye on for Toronto is Nazem Kadri," TSN's Elliotte Friedman said on a local radio station. "... I’m hearing that there are serious desires from both sides for a reunion.”

Kadri was the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft by the Maple Leafs.

He spent his first 10 NHL seasons in Toronto, putting up 161 goals and 196 assists in a Maple Leafs uniform.

From there, he went to Colorado, and then he spent the last three seasons in Calgary.

In total, Kadri has played 985 NHL games and scored 307 goals with 403 assists.

Kadri is also a physical player, with 1,174 career hits.

The 6-foot tall lefty center could fit nicely on Toronto's third line behind stud centers Auston Matthews and John Tavares.

The Maple Leafs have a little room to play with after Mitch Marner's sign-and-trade departure to Las Vegas.

Toronto fans surely wouldn't mind bringing back a guy who did a lot of good things for them in the past like Kadri.
