The injury Max Muncy suffered during Clayton Kershaw's 3,000 strikeout game looked a lot worse than it ended up being.

Fortunately, Muncy didn’t tear his ACL or have anything too wrong with his knee.

However, he still has a bone bruise, which isn’t ideal.

This could be a lingering issue, with Dave Roberts recently noting that it's possible that he could be dealing with this into next season.

The expectation was for Muncy to be reevaluated in six weeks after the injury, so he’s about a month or so from that now.

However, if this injury is going to be an issue for longer than that, the Dodgers must be cautious, as the last thing they want is for him to develop a long-term issue.

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (13) is helped off the field after he was injured on a play during the fifth inning against the Chicago White Sox at Dodger Stadium.

“After all, Freeman and Betts have yet to show signs of life amid career-worst slumps. Ohtani’s workload won’t get any easier as he continues to ramp up on the mound. And there’s no guarantee how Muncy will look once he returns, with Roberts noting his bone bruise will probably linger into next year,” the LA Times wrote.

Some have speculated that Muncy could depart during the offseason, but now, it looks likely that the Dodgers will retain him.

Unless something drastic happens from this leg injury, which doesn't seem to be the case, despite it potentially lingering into next year, Muncy should be on the roster.

For good reason, too, as he figured things out after struggling a bit early on.

The left-handed hitting third baseman had a 134 OPS+ and 13 home runs before going down with his gruesome injury.
