Philadelphia Phillies general manager Rubén Amaro Jr. won't see Trea Turner when the longtime executive turns on the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.

Actually, we wouldn't be surprised if Amaro boycotts Tuesday's All-Star Game in support of Turner. Amaro, a Phillies analyst since 2020, blasted Major League Baseball for leaving Turner off both the initial roster and failing to add him as an injury replacement.

The 32-year-old Turner entered the All-Star break batting .289 with 11 home runs, 40 RBIs, and a .776 OPS in over 420 plate appearances. However, Turner leads the NL in hits and has 24 stolen bases in 30 attempts.

Amaro called Turner's omission "the most ridiculous thing" he'd seen across four decades of professional baseball.

"I guess the hit is not all that important anymore," Amaro said on the "Phillies Show" podcast. "That's one.

"And then do you imagine Ichiro not making an [All-Star Game]?" Amaro continued. "I mean, think about that for a second."

Comparing Turner to Ichiro is certainly a choice, and it's not fair to Turner. Ichiro earned All-Star selections in his first 10 seasons, averaging 224 hits and 38 stolen bases from 2001 through 2010.

No one is disputing that Turner is a great player, and we agree that he's among the more egregious snubs. However, he's a far different player than Ichiro, and he's playing in a far different time than Suzuki did during his prime with the Seattle Mariners.

Designated hitter/left fielder Kyle Schwarber will represent the Phillies in Atlanta. Although ace Zack Wheeler also made the All-Star Game, he opted out to rest and prepare for the second half.
