New nickname for the second-year star.
Angel Reese added another moment to her sensational WNBA season on Monday. The 23-year-old forward recorded her ninth straight double-double, putting up 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for the Chicago Sky. She also chipped in three assists and a block in the game against the Minnesota Lynx.
Angel Reese keeps dominating as WNBA icon shows respect
Despite Reese’s best efforts, the Sky couldn’t stop the Lynx from running away to a 91-78 win at Wintrust Arena. Minnesota remains the team to beat, and even Reese’s performance couldn’t slow them down. Still, the loss doesn’t take away from the show Reese put on or the streak she continues to build.

Through the season, Reese has become one of the most reliable and entertaining players in the league. She’s averaging 14 points per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field. Add in 12.6 rebounds, nearly 4 assists, and over a steal per game, and it’s clear she’s having a major impact.
Her strong play isn’t going unnoticed. Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie, one of the greatest players in league history, gave Reese a big shoutout on social media. Leslie posted a photo of Reese showing off her new braided hairstyle, calling her “Braided Barbie” and saying flat-out: “Braided Barbie is a beast.”
That nickname seems to fit perfectly. Reese plays with grit and confidence, and she’s growing her fan base quickly. Having a legend like Leslie recognize her not just for her talent, but also for her style, speaks volumes.
Leslie has seen the best of the best in women’s basketball and still chose to single out Reese. That kind of praise from someone who dominated the game for years shows just how far Reese has come in such a short time.
Despite the strong play from Reese, the Sky are still 7-14 and fifth in the Eastern Conference. Chicago will host the Atlanta Dream Wednesday.
