Their days of lighting up the college hoops scene might be in the rearview mirror, but Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel are just getting started when it comes to making their mark in the NBA.

The two promising rookies crossed paths during a recent summer league game, and what happened next was one of those wholesome moments that fans can’t help but love. Their quick courtside interaction didn’t just grab attention online; it even brought a big smile to Cooper Flagg’s mom, who couldn’t help but share how much it meant to see her son already building connections in the league.

It was the first time Cooper Flagg and Knueppel had caught up in person since draft night nearly three weeks ago, and their summer league run-in was a fun sneak peek at this new NBA chapter.

They’ll face each other a few more times once the regular season rolls around, too, since the Mavericks and Hornets only clash twice a year. This time, it was Charlotte that came out on top, rolling to an 87-69 win.

Flagg was sidelined, watching in street clothes, but Knueppel put on a show with a solid double-double 16 points, 10 boards, plus some hustle stats.

Both guys were standout freshmen at Duke last season, with Flagg going No. 1 overall to Dallas and Knueppel getting picked fourth by the Hornets. Safe to say, this rivalry’s just getting started.
