Man Utd open 'talks' with Arsenal target after transfer boost

Manchester United makes contact with Arsenal transfer target's agents.

Manchester United may be ready to score big in the transfer market again. The Red Devils are now reportedly in talks with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko — a player Arsenal once looked certain to sign.

But after the Gunners backed away from the deal, United have moved in to test the waters.

Sesko, just 22, is one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe. He looked set for a move to the Emirates earlier this summer after agreeing personal terms.

However, when Leipzig raised their asking price to nearly £86 million, Arsenal decided to chase other targets. In classic football style, the door opened — and United walked through it.

According to reports (via TBR Football), Sesko is disappointed about the Arsenal U-turn. His camp has now reached out to several Premier League clubs, with United showing strong interest.

Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle have apparently also been contacted, but it's United who seem the most serious at this stage.

As of now, Ruben Amorim is pushing for reinforcements up top. Matheus Cunha remains the only major summer signing so far.

With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling last season, Sesko could be the perfect fit to freshen up United’s front line.

Why Man Utd could sign Benjamin Sesko?

Sesko has been impressive in Germany. Since joining Leipzig from RB Salzburg, he’s scored 39 goals in 87 games. That includes four goals in last season’s Champions League — a solid return, even though Leipzig exited early.

He’s tall, fast, and presses hard. That sounds like a striker built for the Premier League.

No wonder Amorim is interested. Plus, with Arsenal now focused on Viktor Gyokeres, and Chelsea already packed in attack, United may have the clearest path to land the Slovenian.

If United can close the deal quickly, Sesko could join the squad before their U.S. pre-season tour. That would be a huge win — and a rare chance to score before the season even starts.
