The New York Yankees saw Jazz Chisholm Jr. participate in the Home Run Derby. He did not put together the strongest performance and drew plenty of criticism from fans.

Chisholm was named to his second career All-Star Game this season. This was his first time participating in the Home Run Derby, however. Afterwards, he was likely happy he was traded to the Yankees and not the Atlanta Braves last season.

Chisholm hit just three home runs in the opening round of the Home Run Derby at Truist Park. Chisholm hit plenty of line drives, but he is not sweating it too much. He noted that he did not want to alter his swing to hit home runs, according to the New York Post's Mark W. Sanchez. He also noted that he wants to participate in the Home Run Derby again one day.

After the event, and after social media had their fun, the Yankees' social media posted a message from Chisholm, showing he is not too worried about his poor outing.

"I wasn't trying to mess up my swing," said Chisholm. "I ain't worried about it."

Chisholm was the first player born in the Bahamas to participate in the Home Run Derby. That fact was not lost on him as his stepfather was throwing to him.

"I hit a fly ball to the infield or something like that or a foul ball back," Chisholm said, per the New York Post. "And I smiled to myself. I was like, ‘Dang, we’re actually doing this right now. We’re actually hitting in the Home Run Derby. He’s actually throwing to me.’"

Chisholm has 17 home runs in 65 games after missing a chunk of the season with an injury. He is eight home runs shy of a new career high. However, it is worth noting, after his performance, that only four of his home runs have come outside of Yankee Stadium.
