Kudos to the Boston Red Sox for figuring things out over the past few weeks.
When it looked like the Red Sox were dead in the dirt, all they did was respond with an impressive streak heading into the All-Star break, winning 10 in a row.
The Red Sox are in an excellent position to make the postseason, and even find themselves right in the mix for the American League East. Only three games behind the Toronto Blue Jays and one behind the New York Yankees, there isn't much of a reason why the Red Sox can't get the job done in the second half.
This has likely changed some of the plans heading into the trade deadline, too, but the Red Sox also have to note what's worked for them.
At the top of the list of things that have worked for the Red Sox is Roman Anthony, the youngster who made his debut just a month ago.
Anthony has played in 31 Games, with 106 at-bats. He has 28 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs, and a 117 OPS+ in that span.
He also became the youngest Red Sox player to have a hitting streak of nine or more games since 1965, according to MLB.com’s Ian Browne.
"Roman Anthony is the youngest Red Sox player to have a hitting streak of nine or more games since Tony Conigliaro in 1965," Browne wrote.
Anthony has proven instantly that he's good enough to play in Major League Baseball.
The Red Sox needed him to step up in a massive way, and he's done just that.
Hopefully, this is just the start of him doing special things in a Red Sox jersey.
