Manchester United have made contact with Corentin Tolisso’s (30) entourage to enquire about the feasibility of a switch from Lyon to the Red Devils, according to L’Equipe. The France international midfielder rejoined formative club Lyon after a trophy-laden spell with Bayern Munich three years ago. His five-year contract expired in 2027. Last season, Tolisso was one of the more consistent outfield Lyon players and one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1.
Tolisso’s resurgence and Lyon’s precarious financial situation have attracted interest and Manchester United, Lyon’s opponents in the Europa League quarter-finals, have now made their interest known. The Red Devils have made contact with the 2018 World Cup winner’s entourage. Tolisso had reportedly no plans to leave Lyon, but the interest of a major club might change his mind. L’Equipe adds that Tolisso is not “insensitive” at the prospect of joining a club of Manchester United’s stature.
Lyon have reportedly no plan to sell Tolisso, given they initially plan to build Paulo Fonseca’s team around him. Besides, Les Gones have already parted ways with an experienced Lyon Academy graduate, Alexandre Lacazette. That being said, a multi-million sale and a lower wage bill would be welcome news for Lyon’s finances. The outlet adds that Atlético de Madrid may also target Tolisso as the Colchoneros are expecting Rodrigo de Paul’s exit to Inter Miami. Neom SC – Lacazette’s new club – are also monitoring Tolisso.
