Ole Miss could not beat out Deion Sanders and Colorado for a 4-Star LB.
Ole Miss Loses Out on Coveted 4-Star LB to Colorado originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Ole Miss football team has been rebuilding this offseason after another 10-win campaign in 2024. Unfortunately, the Rebels lost 18 of their 22 starters from last year's team to either the NFL or the NCAA transfer portal.
Head coach Lane Kiffin, once again, landed one of the best transfer portal classes in the entire country in 2025. This has been his calling card since taking over at Ole Miss before the 2020 season.
However, Kiffin is also becoming adept on the high school recruiting trail. Earlier this month, the Rebels landed a handful of commitments from highly coveted prospects like four-star tight end JC Anderson and three-star cornerback Iverson McCoy.
Ole Miss was also in the running for four-star linebacker Rodney Colton, and On3 Sports predicted that the Rebels would land this coveted prospect who had 34 Division I college offers.
Unfortunately, Colton snubbed Kiffin and his staff on Saturday, choosing to commit to head coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes instead.

While this comes as a devastating blow because Colton is from the south and Ole Miss was considered the frontrunner, the Rebels will be just fine. They already landed a commitment from four-star linebacker Izayia Williams in the 2026 class.
Fortunately, Ole Miss already has 13 hard commits in the 2026 class and the 32nd-ranked overall class by 247 Sports. This group is comprised of four four-star recruits and nine three-stars, as well as three local Mississippi products.
Ole Miss opens their 2025 season on August 30 against the Georgia State Panthers. Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. ET at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.
