Philadelphia Phillies 2025 MLB Draft picks. See who the Phils have drafted so far

The 2025 MLB Draft is underway and the Philadelphia Phillies have gone with all pitchers so far. See who they've drafted.

The 2025 MLB Draft is underway and the Philadelphia Phillies have gone with all pitchers so far.

With the selection of three college pitchers, does this mean the Phils are preparing to add them to their much-maligned bullpen or are they just planning for the future with starter Ranger Suárez set to become a free agent and ace Zack Wheeler planning for retirement at the end of 2027?

Either way, Phillies brace must like something about this year's crop of pitching prospects.

Here's a look at who they've drafted so far:

Round 1: Gage Wood, RHP, Arkansas

With the 26th overall pick, the Phillies selected pitcher Gage Wood of Arkansas.

While he didn't throw a ton of innings this year with Arkansas, Wood certainly made the most of his opportunities.

Wood threw only the third no-hitter in College World Series history while also setting the single-game strikeout record with 19 against Murray State in Omaha last month.

The right-hander relies heavily on his fastball, which reaches the high 90s, and a power curveball. On the season, the rising senior went 4-1 with a 3.82 ERA, .903 WHIP and 69 strikeouts in just over 37 innings.

Here's a look at his no-hitter:

Round 2: Cade Obermueller, LHP, Iowa

Iowa's Cade Obermueller (33) pitches against Oregon during a Big Ten conference baseball game May 15, 2025 at Duane Banks Field in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Phils went pitching again in the second round by selecting Cade Obermueller, of Iowa with the 63rd overall pick.

Like Wood, Obermueller is another 6-foot pitcher but he throws from the opposite side. His fastball normally sits at 91-94 but reaches 98; however, his best offering is a low-80s slider that is effective against lefties and righties, according to his scouting report.

The lefty was drafted in the 19th round by the Texas Rangers last year. After staying in college, Obermueller went 5-2 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 117 strikeouts in 83 innings for Iowa.

Round 3: Cody Bowker, RHP, Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt pitcher Cody Bowker (55) throws to Louisville batter Lucas Moore during the first inning of the Nashville Regional NCAA Baseball Tournament game at Hawkins Field Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Nashville, Tenn.

With the 100th overall pick, the Phillies took pitcher Cody Bowker of Vanderbilt.

The  6’1” right-hander is a former two-way player who relies on a 90-95 MPH fastball and a sweeping low-80s slider, according to scouting reports.

Bowker had a 4.38 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 16 starts after transferring from Georgetown.
