Brock Bowers ranked No. 1 tight end by NFL executives

Former Georgia Bulldog Brock Bowers was ranked as the No. 1 tight end by NFL executives, scouts, and coaches, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler

ESPN interviewed NFL executives, coaches and scouts to make a list of the top tight ends in the NFL. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, former Georgia Bulldog Brock Bowers ranked first among all tight ends in the league. He becomes the first player to rank No. 1 at his position after his rookie season.

With the Georgia Bulldogs, Bowers garnered the fifth most career receiving yards (2,538) and the second most career receiving touchdowns (26). He was the No. 1 target for a Georgia team that won back-to-back national championships in his tenure. When he was selected 13th overall in the 2024 NFL draft by the Las Vegas Raiders, Georgia fans believed Bowers would be a legendary player.

In his rookie season, Bowers proved every one right. He caught 112 passes for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. He set the records for most receptions and yards by any rookie tight end. He was snubbed from winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, but he was the Pro Bowl starter for the AFC team in 2025.

Bowers' season looks even better with the quarterback play and offensive game plan he dealt with. Incumbent starting quarterback Gardner Minshew was replaced with Aidan O'Connell in the middle of the season. While they totaled the 13th most passing yards, they only had 19 touchdowns (28th) to show for it. Combined with an ineffective running game, the Raiders averaged 18.2 points per game, ranking 29th in the NFL.

Bowers will have a little more competition for targets with the Raiders drafting wide receiver Jack Bech out of TCU, but with the Raiders acquiring Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, Bowers now has a stable quarterback throwing him the football. He could approach or surpass his rookie numbers this fall.
