McIlroy’s round included five birdies and just one bogey, with birdies on all three par-fives. This continues his streak of 11 straight rounds under 68 at the Renaissance Club. Reflecting on his form, he said per BBC Sport, “I think I'm pretty close to being back to the level I was at going into the Masters.” McIlroy has been navigating a post-Masters lull since winning the career Grand Slam at Augusta, but he feels he's turned a corner. “I feel like I came to this tournament with renewed enthusiasm and excitement for the rest of the year,” he added.

Sharing the top spot is Chris Gotterup, who had led by four shots going into Saturday but now finds himself tied with the Northern Irishman after a tight third round. Just two strokes behind are Matt Fitzpatrick, Marco Penge, Wyndham Clark, and Jake Knapp at 9-under.
With McIlroy eyeing his 30th PGA TOUR title and Gotterup chasing a breakthrough, Sunday’s final round is set for a competitive finish at the Scottish Open.
