Missouri alum Sophie Cunningham scores in double-digits as Indiana Fever beat Wings

Here’s how Missouri women’s basketball alum Sophie Cunningham performed in the Indiana Fever’s win over the Dallas Wings on Sunday.

Fresh off her first double-double with the Fever, Sophie Cunningham again recorded a double-digit scoring game Sunday.

The former Missouri women’s basketball star scored 13 points to help the Indiana Fever defeat the Dallas Wings 102-83 on Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. Cunningham surpassed 1,500-career points in the WNBA during the matchup.

Cunningham went 2-of-3 from 3-point range in the victory, part of another efficient performance from deep after a 4-of-4 performance Friday night. She was 5-of-6 shooting from the field against the Wings and went 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

The Mizzou grad and Columbia native also had five rebounds, which tied a team-high for the matchup, and three assists Sunday. She recorded +7 plus/minus during her 22 minutes on the floor.

Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana in scoring with 20 points, and Aliyah Boston (17), Natasha Howard (18) and Caitlin Clark (14) each scored in double-digits. Clark had a 14-point, 13-assist double-double.

The Fever moved above .500 on the season with the win, now at 11-10 on the year. For the time being, that moves them into sixth place in the WNBA standings and 6.5 games back of the league-leading Minnesota Lynx.

Indiana is currently third in the Eastern Conference standings.

At halftime, Cunningham had scored on her only attempt from 3-point range and collected a game-high six rebounds. She also recorded a block — her second of the season and first since her debut.

In a Friday victory over the Atlanta dream, Cunningham was 4-of-4 from 3-point range as she recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double — the second of her seven-year WNBA career.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham (8) rushes up the court against Dallas Wings guard Haley Jones (30) on Sunday, July 13, 2025, during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Entering Sunday’s game, Cunningham was averaging 5.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.9 steals per game this season — her first with the Fever after an offseason trade from the Phoenix Mercury.

Earlier this year, Cunningham was announced as a member of Missouri athletics’ 2025 Hall of Fame Class. The Rock Bridge High grad is the all-time leading scorer for Mizzou women’s basketball with 2,187 points. The Tigers have not been to the NCAA Tournament since Cunningham graduated in 2019.

Indiana and Cunningham next face the Connecticut Sun at 7 p.m. CDT Tuesday in a game that will be played at TD Garden in Boston.
