A NBA star and a pop star are set to wed.
The Cleveland Cavaliers may have made moves this offseason with new additions like Lonzo Ball and Larry Nance Jr., but Donovan Mitchell has made headlines for a more personal reason, he’s getting married.
NBA Star and R&B Singer Take Their Romance Public
On Friday, Mitchell quietly put out a surprise announcement on Instagram: he’s engaged to Grammy-winning R&B artist Coco Jones. The post included a romantic photo of the couple sharing a kiss, along with a video showing the moment he proposed, set against a tropical beachside backdrop.
The couple has kept their relationship mostly under wraps, but fans have speculated about their status for some time. Back in March, Coco was asked about the rumors by Shannon Sharpe during an interview. She chose not to confirm anything directly but shared that she values keeping parts of her life private, especially when it comes to love and family.

Now, it’s official.
Both stars have had standout years in 2025. Mitchell averaged 24 points per game and earned All-NBA honors for the second time in his career, helping lead the Cavs through a 64-win season. Jones, meanwhile, made waves in music with her debut album "Why Not More?," which broke into the top 20 on the R&B and hip hop charts.
Despite the disappointment in the postseason, the Cavaliers look ahead to another strong season on the court, Mitchell now has a major life moment to celebrate off the court as well. No word yet on wedding plans, but fans and fellow celebrities are already celebrating the engagement news.
What started as a quiet relationship has turned into one of the biggest love stories of the year and now, it’s officially out in the open. The announcement garnered plenty of attention, to no one's surprise, being two likable public figures.
