Fans thinks a top player is returning after a WNBA cut a player.

The Los Angeles Sparks have struggled so far this WNBA season, entering Sunday’s matchup with the Connecticut Sun at just 6-14. They have yet to string together back-to-back wins and are looking for any bit of momentum they can latch on to.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the team announced it had waived Mercedes Russell. The 6-foot-6 center was in her first season with L.A., appearing in 20 games and averaging 1.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.6 assists per contest.
Russell was a second-round pick of the New York Liberty in 2018 and spent the majority of her eight-year WNBA career with the Seattle Storm.
Following Saturday’s announcement that Russell was waived, fans quickly took to social media to speculate that the move could signal Cameron Brink’s return.
"They making space for Cam," one fan said.
"Gotta mean cam loading," another wrote.
"cameron brink welcome back prettyyyy," added another.
"welcome back," wrote a fan.
"DEMON BRINK HOME," a fan added.
"Demon brink back," one fan said.
Brink, a 6-foot-4 forward and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, appeared in 15 games before suffering a torn ACL and meniscus. She hasn’t seen game action since June of last year but has been working toward a return.
While the decision to waive Russell may not be directly tied to Brink’s status, a comeback isn’t far off. Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts told the media on Saturday that her young star is hopeful to return by the end of July.
"Hopefully, we get her back by the end of this month. We'll see when it actually is," Roberts said. "It's going to take some time, but again, I've been saying all season, like, we want to win, but let's peak in August. And I think Cam provides a little bit of a boost, not just on the court, but just kind of the confidence it brings to all of us having a player like that back"
Brink was seen taking part in her own five-on-five game on the other end of practice on Saturday as well.
