According to a report from Foot Mercato, Olympique de Marseille are targeting a move for Olympique Lyonnais winger Malick Fofana (20).
Les Phocéens are looking to strengthen this summer following the departure of Luis Hernique to Internazionale Milan. The club have been linked with several targets in the Netherlands, with Feyenoord’s Igor Paixão in their sights, after Noa Lang decided to move to SSC Napoli.
Marseille have reportedly reached an agreement with Paixão. However, the club have yet to meet Feyenoord’s demands, the Eredivisie side are asking for around €40m for the forward. Foot Mercato explains that this is not their only target.
Marseille are going to try and pluck Fofana from their arch-rivals, with talks said to be progressing well. However, there are multiple teams interested in the winger who has a contract lasting until 2028.
Multiple Premier League teams have their eye on the Belgian international, with Nottingham Forest and Chelsea FC linked to the player. Despite Lyon succeeding in appealing their relegation to Ligue 2, sales are expected this summer. Still, it remains to be seen whether they will allow such a talented player leave for bitter rivals.
