The Philadelphia Phillies are expected not to trade top prospect Andrew Painter at the MLB trade deadline

The Philadelphia Phillies could make a lot of changes at the MLB trade deadline. For the first time since he came to Philadelphia, Dave Dombrowski might finally dip into the top of the farm system.
A report from Matt Gelb of The Athletic indicates the team might be willing to part with their top prospects for talent in the bullpen and the outfield. But, even with the Phillies intentions of buying, one prospect is safe from being traded.
"When the Phillies progressed in trade talks with the Chicago White Sox for Garrett Crochet last summer," Gelb writes, "They were steadfast in deeming Andrew Painter untouchable. They have held firm on that stance this July."
It's a very clear line from Dobrowski and the Phillies; they will not be moving top prospect Andrew Painter. Even though he could help the team land a great haul in return, the Phillies have no intention of moving Painter at all.
However, the rest of the prospects are a different story. "But everyone else in the organization," Gelb writes, "according to league sources, might be available to varying degrees."
That would include top prospects Aidan Miller, Justin Crawford, Aroon Escobar, and Eduardo Tait. Mick Able could also be moved, despite his recent struggles in the Majors.
But, at the end of the day, for the Phillies, there is only one player they aren't going to move at the MLB trade deadline: number one prospect Andrew Painter.
Of the potential moves the Phillies could make at this year's trade deadline, none will involve Painter. He's untouchable and is a huge part of the Phillies' plans going forward.
With the potential departures of Ranger Suarez, Jesus Luzardo, and Zack Wheeler over the next three seasons, Painter is very important to the Phillies organization.
Dombrowski and the Phillies have no intention of trading Painter, even if he could help land a strong return at the trade deadline this season.
