It is the day before the MLB Draft as teams figure out who to select as their next generation of stars in the franchise. With the league going on All-Star break, all front offices can focus on who to draft.

The Detroit Tigers have the No. 24 pick in this year’s draft. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report put out his final mock draft before the first round begins tomorrow afternoon. With the 24th pick, Reuter thinks the Tigers will select Slater de Brun, an outfielder from Summit High School in Oregon.

“With another early pick at No. 34, expect the Tigers to take at least one high school player among their first two selections, and hitters have seemingly been the focus. Slater de Brun might never have a 30-homer campaign in the tank from a power standpoint, but a career similar to All-Star Shane Victorino could be a terrific best-case scenario,” Reuter wrote.

De Brun is a Vanderbilt commit and is ranked as the No. 14 overall recruit in the upcoming class. If he chooses to play collegiately, he will have to play three years in Nashville before joining the Detroit farm system.

He stands at 5-foot-10 and is 187 pounds. De Brun hit .474 at the 17U WWBA and was named as an All-American by Perfect Game. By the time he gets to Detroit, current center fielder Parker Meadows may not be on the roster and the Tigers would be in need of a replacement. De Brun would be a solid young player to come in and fill in the hole.
