Athletic talent runs in Iga Swiatek's family.
Her father, Tomasz Swiatek, represented Poland in rowing at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, and her sister, Agata Swiatek, competed as a junior tennis player until 2013. According to the tennis star’s Olympic bio, Tomasz guided Iga to a career in sports — and it paid off.
By 2020, she had become the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam singles title at the French Open.
Her father served as the head of her coaching team until 2024 and has remained a constant presence at her matches. But that doesn’t mean tennis dominates their lives.
In August 2024, while speaking to Polish outlet WP SportoweFakty, Tomasz said that he and his daughter don't often talk about tennis together. Iga’s mother, Dorota Swiatek, an orthodontist, told Super Express in October 2020 that while she was proud of her daughter’s success, what matters most to her is that Iga is doing what she loves.
So, who are Iga Swiatek's parents? Here’s everything to know about Dorota and Tomasz Swiatek.

The tennis pro told TIME in April 2023 that she started playing tennis when she was around 6 or 7.
“I always had a lot of energy,” she told the outlet. “So I needed something to kind of waste it on. But it wasn’t a waste.”

Nearly 40 years later, the tennis pro followed in her father’s footsteps and made her Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games. Iga reached the second round.

According to her professional bio, she’s worked as an orthodontics specialist since 1991 and specializes in treating orthodontic defects like crowded teeth and cleft lips.
Agata went into her mother’s side of the family business and graduated from the Medical University of Lublin in 2022. She’s since worked as a dentist and has an interest in pursuing periodontology, according to her professional bio.

She tried swimming at first, but was “scared of the water.” Tennis was more alluring thanks to a good old-fashioned sibling rivalry.
“My older sister was playing,” Iga told WTA Tennis in June 2019. “She's three years older and I always wanted to be like her. I was always competing with her when I was younger and I always lost, so that was very motivating for me.
She said that though her competitive nature initially got her into the sport, she continued because it felt “natural” to her. Agata, on the other hand, stopped playing around 2015-2016 due to an injury.
